A Rocha Canada, a Christian nature conservation organization, just celebrated their 10th anniversary this past weekend at their new home base - the Brooksdale Environmental Centre in Surrey. The founders of A Rocha International, Peter and Miranda Harris, were there to share with us their inspirational journey which started in Portugal almost 30 years ago.
We've always enjoyed spending time at A Rocha as a family, either volunteering in the garden or just hanging out. Serena never seems to run out of things to do there. The field centre gives us city folks a tiny glimpse of life on a farm, and it reminds us of our often neglected responsibility to be good stewards of God's creation.
The 10th anniversary celebration was an absolute blast. Some highlights:
Hay rides! The kids just couldn't get enough of it:
On this special occasion, the kids were treated to releasing some coho salmon fry into the Little Campbell Watershed:
The woodworking table was a magnet for kids. Serena could've spent hours there just hammering nails on pieces of scrap wood:
And finally, what's a farm without animals?
"for every animal of the forest is mine,
and the cattle on a thousand hills.
I know every bird in the mountains
and the creatures of the field are mine."
